Ronald Lester Wagand, born September 12, 1938, in Freeport, Illinois to Lester Wagand and Helen (Wachlin, Wagand) Bawden, died March 16, 2014, at his home. He married Nancy Jean TerHark October 1, 1960 in Cedarville, Illinois.
He was a 1957 graduate of Freeport High School and was employed by Chrysler Corp. for 30 years. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Shannon, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife; daughter Rhonda Strohecker, Lanark, Illinois; son Douglas, Lena, Illinois; three granddaughters: Krista Wagand and Jennifer Homan, Lanark; Rachel (Kyle) Pehl, Bullehead City, AZ; three grandsons: Brian Wagand, Lanark, Ryan Wagand, Freeport and Kurtis Wagand, Ewa Beach, Hawaii; daughter-in-law Anoma Wagand, Hawaii; 2 great-granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons, brother Dennis (Doreen) Wagand , and sister Judy Deitz. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, CW3 Kevin Wagand; a great-grandson, and two brothers.
Visitation will be at Bethel United Methodist Church, Shannon, Illinois, 9:00 Saturday, March 22, 2014, with the funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Freeport, Illinois. A memorial has been established.
