Sebastian James Ruthven, age 3, of Stockton, IL passed away Monday, July 27, 2026 at UW Children’s hospital in Madison, WI. He was born in Rockford, IL on October 1, 2022, the son of Elizabeth Sales and Nathan Ruthven.

Sebastian was a funny, feisty, happy little boy with a little bit of sass. He loved Paw Patrol and his siblings and cousins.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Luke Snodgrass) Sales; his father, Nathan Ruthven; his grandparents, Dean (Velma) Deyo, Bill (Jill) Basel and Ken (Nona) Snodgrass; his siblings, Hoyt, Leland, Ryan, Alekzondra, Mariah, Gracie and Beau; his godparents, Alena and Darin; his aunts and uncles, Lori (Robert) Schuler, Tiffani Sales, Ashley (Damen) Hughes, Sam Deyo and Alex Getz; his great uncle and aunt Jeff (Eleanor) Richter; his cousins, James, Axel, Connor, Gabe, Marisol, Ava, Izzy and Chris. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Dick (Rita) Deyo; his great grandpa Freeman; his uncle, Michael; and his baby cousin, Hazel.

The family would like to thank the Drs and Nurses, especially Julia and Heather at UW Madison Children’s Hospital and SSM Monroe Hospital ER Staff for their wonderful care.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton at 10:30 a.m. There will be a visitation on Friday, July 31, 2026 also at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.
