Sharon Lessman , age 80, of Shannon, IL passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was born in Freeport on August 1, 1941 to the late Hasper and Margaret (Johnson) Schoonhoven. Sharon married Larry Lessman on February 14, 1959 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon.
Sharon was a 1959 graduate of Shannon High School and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon. Sharon was a dedicated employee of the Shannon Post Office for many years. She was very artistic and creative, and always had the largest and most elaborate float for the Shannon Labor Day Parade. She had a tendency to go overboard, especially when it came to Christmas and birthdays. Sharon enjoyed taking pictures and spending her winters in Florida. She looked forward to Sunday morning breakfast and hosting Labor Day activities. Most of all, Sharon loved her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; her sons, Lonnie (Cheryl), Chad (Barb) and Troy (Donna); her grandchildren, Kirsten (Jared) Boyer, Kari (Ishan Desai) Palmer, Kassidy Lessman, Shay (Molly Flint) Lessman, Kaden (Jordan Schreiner) Lessman, Katrya (Dereck) Donath, Lane Lessman, Reid (Devin) Lessman, Logan Lessman and Gentry Lessman; her great grandchildren, Sloane, Blakely and Callan Boyer, Graceyn, Elayna and Savannah Lessman, and one on the way; her sisters, Romaine Capps and Marlene Lewis; and her sister-in-law, Bobbie Schoonhoven;
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Heather; her grandson, Devan Lessman; her brother, Brad Schoonhoven; and her brother-in-law, Jack Capps.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon at 11:00 a.m. There will be a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Brethren Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
