Obituary

Sheldon C. Moll, age 90 of Shannon, IL, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born September 20, 1925 in Cherry Grove Township; the son of the late Charles and Ethel (Rahn) Moll. When he was young, he attended country schools, witnessed the introduction of electricity to rural areas, and the transfer of horse-drawn to modern farming equipment. He was a 1943 graduate of Shannon High School. On October 22, 1950, Sheldon married Elizabeth "Bette" Green in Kansas City, KS.

He was a life long dairy and livestock farmer and sold milk to Kraft for nearly 40 years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and of Bethel United Methodist Church of Shannon. He loved horses and was a member of various horse and pony associations in his younger years.

Sheldon was known for his unmistakeable laugh and enjoyed visiting. He was a deeply devoted father and grandfather. He was always active in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was involved in 4-H as a project leader with his children and never missed one of his granddaughter's sporting events.

He is survived by his son, Stuart (Linda Voreis) Moll of Shannon; daughter, Shelley Moll of Freeport, IL; granddaughters, Morgan & Annaliese Moll; sister, Lucille Dickman of Savanna, IL; and numerous nephews and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bette.

A visitation will be held Saturday, February 20th from 11:00 - 1:00 pm at the Hermann Funeral Home in Shannon. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 1:30 pm at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden's in Freeport, IL. A memorial fund has been established .
