Shirley D. Scheele , age 87, of Stockton, IL passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at home. She was born on September 15, 1929 to the late Wilhelm and Elsie (Broege) Tessendorf in Nora Township. She graduated in 1946 from Lena High School. She married Orrin Scheele in June of 1948 and farmed in Thompson Township, Scales Mound. Orrin died January of 1962 and Shirley continued farming. After the farm was sold for Apple Canyon Lake in 1969, Shirley and her sons continued to farm in the Stockton area.

She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, active in bible study, lady circles and alter guild. Shirley was very proud of her two grandsons who both joined the Navy. She loved seeing them in their dress uniforms. She loved to do needlework, sewing, quilting and gardening.

Shirley is survived by her three children, Allen and Daylon Scheele of Stockton, and Diana (David) Popowski of Columbus, WI; grandsons, Anthony Popowski of Sun Prairie, WI, and BM1 Nicholas Popowski of San Diego, CA; sister, Darlene Womack of Rockford, sister-in-law, Wanda Heins of Mineral Point, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Elsie; husband, Orrin; and infant brother.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Massbach at 11:00 a.m. There will be a visitation at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton on Friday, May 26 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren. A memorial fund has been established.
