Stanley Wayne Evans , age 70, of Stockton, IL passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. He was born December 2, 1951 in Freeport, IL to Harry and Helen (Stanley) Evans. Stan married Kristine Tucker on August 26, 1972. Kris passed away October 20, 2019.
Stan was a 1970 graduate of Stockton High School. He worked at Kelly Springfield right out of High School, until he retired almost 40 years later. Stan then worked at Brewster Cheese part time.
Stan was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather; known not only to his grandchildren, but most kids as "Poppy Stan" (a role he loved and relished in). He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in all activities, always telling his embellished stories about his own experiences. He was the best golf instructor to each of his grandsons, and a great cheerleader for his granddaughters. Stan enjoyed golfing, gardening, woodworking, and watching the Bears and College Basketball. He found humor in almost anything and loved making people laugh. Stan loved talking and entertaining people everywhere he went, his favorites being his Corner Tap and Subway workers. He was always willing to help anyone with anything they needed and spent the last few years caring and running errands for his sister.
Stan is survived by his son, Dan (Robin) Evans; his daughters, Amy (Scott) Hagi, Jamie (Mark) Rowe and Jeanna (Jeremy) Tucker; his brother, Keith (Alice) Evans; his sister, Donna (Duane) Kupersmith; his grandchildren, Ben and Holly Hagi, Chase and Casey Rowe, Tyler, Tristan, Tessa and Colby Tucker, and Madyson, Haley, Brooke, Cullen and Chloe Evans. And many nieces and nephews. Stan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his three sisters, Shirley, Jeannie and Rita.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Hermann Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. A Luncheon will follow at Stella's Café at 2:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.
