Stephen "Steve" Rowe
, age 60 of Stockton, IL, died Thursday, June 18, 2015 at home surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July, 20, 1954 in Freeport IL; the son of Donald Rowe and the late Maxine (Raab) Neels.
Steve was a heavy equipment operator for 10 years and an over the road truck driver for more than 20 years. He was known as a master of "red neck" technology. He loved auctions, horses, gardening, and rescuing animals. Steve had a fantastic time with all of the people he had worked with. He loved his family unconditionally and he was always there to help anyone. He loved to make people laugh and smile and made sure their days were brighter. Steve was a man of many wise words and gave us all strength to get through each day. He loved his kids, grandkids, brothers, sisters, nieces & nephews, dad and most of all he loved his wife, Diane and all the fun they had with each other.
Steve is survived by his wife, Diane; father, Donald Rowe; children, Jeremy (Jeanna) Tucker, Jena (Marc) Lawson, Angela (Jeff) Scace, Tony (Megan) Rowe, Brooke (Tony) Dickerson, and Zack (Nicole) VanBeek; 23 grandchildren; siblings, Dewey (Jodi) Rowe, Rosemary (Tim) Strong, Christine Oates, and Steve (Rudy) Sersch; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maxine; and brother, Douglas.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 6:00 pm; Pastor Paul Fritz officiating. Interment will take place at Morseville Cemetery at a later date. A memorial fund has been established.
