Steven C. Frey , age 69, of Shannon, IL passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born in Fort Lewis, WA to the late Gordon and Charlene (Kuhlemeier) Frey. Steve married Delores Thede on December 29, 1973 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon.

Steve was a 1971 graduate of Shannon High School and went on to receive his Paramedic license and Firefighter 3 certificate. He was a founding member of the Black Diamond Rescue and a member of the MABAS 17 TRT. Steve was a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Shannon for many years. After retirement from the Rock Island Arsenal in 2014, he had worked part time for the Mt. Carroll ambulance. Steve most recently enjoyed volunteering with his wife at the Shannon Food Pantry. He was also on the Brethren Cemetery Board. Steve enjoyed woodworking, watching the squirrels and birds, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and grand pups.

Steve is survived by his wife, Delores of Shannon; his sons, Craig (Sarah) of Lake in the Hills, IL, Christopher (Kristin Derby) of Shannon, and Cory (Nicole) of Union, IL; his grandchildren, Cheyenne Curry, Savanna Spinner, Michael Frey, Trevor Frey, Connor Frey and Jayden Frey; and his sister, Paula (LeRoy) Pilsner of Fort Wayne, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Tara Frey.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Hermann Funeral Home in Shannon at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Brethren Cemetery in Shannon. A memorial fund will be established to benefit Shannon Fire and Ambulance.
