Obituary

Thomas L. Magee, age 68 of Winnebago, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home. He was born January 19, 1945, the son of the late Vernon and Neola (Gates) Magee. He was a 1964 graduate of Stockton High School and served in the United States Army in the 82nd Air Bourn Division. Tom worked most of his life as a pipe line welder, and belonged to the Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local 501. He enjoyed skiing, hiking, hunting, and playing cards with family. He loved to travel, especially to Ireland to visit his daughter and to Colorado to spend time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Tom (Lori) Magee of Fort Collins, CO; daughter, Melissa Magee of Newtownabby, Ireland; grandchildren, Cassandra & Corbin Maxwell Magee; four sisters, Carol Ann (Joe) Staver of Stockton, Janet Behrens of Stockton, June (Dr. David) Bergemann of Lena, IL, and Trisha (Boyd) Cox of Scales Mound, IL; and seven brothers, Ron (Rita) of Stockton, Gary (friend, Rose) of Janesville, WI, Jim of Stockton, John (Charmaine) of Lena, Mike (friend, Pam) of Stockton, Steven of Stockton, and Gene (Teresa) of Stockton. Tom is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Patrick; and sister, Mary. A visitation will be held Friday, November 29, 2013 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton, where a memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 30, 2013. A memorial fund has been established for the Stockton Veteran's Memorial and for Parkinson's research. Tom had made a significant contribution to the research for Parkinson's disease.
