Thomas Lee McPhillips, age 67, of Stockton, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. Thomas was born May 16, 1946 in Freeport, IL; the son of the late Leland and Dorothy (Nicholls) McPhillips. He was a 1964 graduate of Stockton High School. He served in the United States Army for two years, stationed in Germany. Tom married Joyce (Pannkuk) Huttenlocher on January 22, 1983 in Freeport.
Tom was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Stockton. He was a truck driver for most of his life, retiring in 2000. He then worked in independent sales. Tom was a very social person and enjoyed talking, going out to eat, playing cards, and trying to help people in any way he could.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Scott McPhillips of Stockton, Bonnie McPhillips-Newcomb of Minooka, IL, Neal (Michele) McPhillips of Highland, IL, Lauri Bailey of Stockton, Denise (Lenny Fogel) Lawfer of Lena, IL, Dennis (Lisa) Huttenlocher of Lena, David (Katina) Huttenlocher of Pecatonica, IL, and Duane (Mirella) Huttenlocher of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren: Lauren & Scarlett; Abbey, Jimmy, Bailey & Julia; Jenna; Tanner; Tenley & Camdyn; Kailee, Breanna & Chloee; Dylan, Tyler & Alexis; sisters, Kay Selhost of Lyndon, IL and Doris (Kevin) Piefer of Warren, IL; brothers, Robert (Berniece) McPhillips of Brookville, IL and Roger Raab of Stockton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and step-mother, Ella (Robert) Raab.
Services will be held 10:30 AM, Monday, March 3, 2014 at Calvary United Methodist Church, Stockton, IL with burial at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Hermann Funeral Home - Stockton Chapel. A memorial fund has been established.
