Vincent M. Waropay's Obituary
Vincent M. Waropay, age 86 of Lake Carroll, IL, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 11, 1927 to George and Rose Waropay in Trenton, NJ. After graduating from Hastings on Hudson High School in New York, he joined the United States Navy. He was stationed at the Rodman Submarine Base in the Panama Canal and served on the USS Burdo. Vince was honorably discharged on November 26, 1947.
Vince attended New York University and Columbia School of Architecture. He was architect designer for the New York Central Railroad. In 1961, Vince joined USG Corporation and retired in 1990 as Director of Architect Service.
Vince married Helen List of Dobbs Ferry, NY in 1950. They had two sons, the late Roger and Robert (Kathy) who have two sons, Bradley and Joseph (Clare) with great granddaughter, Maeve. Vince, Helen and sons moved from Connecticut to Naperville, IL in 1964. Vince and Helen retired and moved to Lake Carroll in 1990. Vince is also survived by his sister, Regina and brother, Tom in Trenton, NJ. Also preceding him in death are his parents and brother PFC George Waropay USMC (KIA Korea) and Alfred.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 29 at 11:00 AM at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church in Shannon, IL. There will be a one hour visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at St. Wendelin's Catholic Cemetery in Shannon. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for St. Wendelin's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
