Warren E. Hopkins, age 91 of Elizabeth, IL, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at home. He was born May 15, 1922, the son of the late Frederick and Myrtle (Graham) Hopkins. He married Virginia Betty Benson July 3, 1944 in Dodge City, KS; she passed away February 25, 2002. Warren served in the United States Air Core during WWII. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elizabeth. Warren was an avid gardener; he loved his plants and flowers. He also enjoyed camping, and especially spending time with his family. He is survived by three daughters, Gale (John) Vaccaro of Thonotosassa, FL, Judy Cabot of Lafayette, CO, and Susan (Michael) Anderson of Dade City, Fl; two sons, Fred (Cheryl) of Casper, WY and Richard of Plant City, FL; 12 grandchildren, Ashley (Michael) Tetreault, Natashia Hopkins, Michelle (Dave) Antle, Michael Vaccaro, Andrea (Dave) Burch, Christine Hopkins, Johnny Cabot, Brian Cabot, Kimberly Moore, Amanda (Damon) Smith, Danielle Hopkins, and Annalesse Hopkins; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Krohmer of Elizabeth and Harriet (Bud) Lindstrom of South Beloit, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by wife; parents; three brothers, Howard, Robert, and Charles; and brother-in-law, Wayne Krohmer. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 9, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Elizabeth, Rev. Kyungsu Park presiding. There will be a one hour visitation before the service beginning at 9:30 AM. Internment will take place at the Elizabeth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Wendt Regional Cancer Center in Dubuque, IA.
