Wayne Eugene Hess, age 72 of Stockton, IL died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the Stockton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on November 8, 1940 in Stockton IL, the son of James and Gertrude (Posey) Hess. Wayne truly loved life and showed it in so many ways including sitting on his front porch on Queen Ave and waving at everyone passing by. As a resident of the nursing home the last 8 months he made so many friends with all the staff as well as the other residents and their visitors. He spent many days at home with his parakeet, Susie until entering the nursing home. Wayne was baptized on March 7, 2013 by Pastor Eun-bae Doh of the Calvary United Methodist Church. Survivors include three brothers, Melvin (Judy) Hess of Loves Park, IL, Dr Laverne (Daune) Hess) of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Kenneth(Pam) Hess of Stockton, Il; two sisters, Betty (Roger) Gallentine of Stockton, IL and Sharon (Don) Goethe of Freeport, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin and Donald; and one sister Gladys. Services will be Saturday October 5, 2013, at11:00 AM at Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton; with Pastor Doh of Calvary United Methodist officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will take place at Ladies Union Cemetery, Stockton. A memorial fund has been established.
